The following outlines the CAFA state Teacher of the Year (TOY) 2008 awards
program which will be administered by the Education Foundation for
Aerospace. The TOY awards will be presented normally at the yearly
convention. This year the CAFA teacher of the year will receive $1,000 and
the two CAFA TOYs area runner ups will receive $250.00. It is expected that
the chapter sponsoring the teacher of the years will notify them as well as
invite and sponsor them to the convention. The TOY criteria and the
nomination form are attached and each CAFA state area VP should send this
guidance to each chapter. It should also be provided at every CAFA state
/area meeting to insure each CAFA chapter has the opportunity to submit
teacher of the year (K through12) nominees.
EFA TOY GUIDANCE:
CHAPTERS: Each CAFA chapter should institute their own Chapter Teacher of
the Year program and to recognize their local teachers. This takes a little
effort to go out to the schools and talk to the administrators and teachers.
The chapters then will select and submit to the CAFA Area VPs their nominees
for selection as an Area Teacher of the Year.
AREA VPs: Each area VP will set an area TOY submission suspense date. The
areas VP will then reviews and select no more than three (3) TOY nominees to
be forward to EFA. The nominees should be ranked by the area VP. The
submittals will be submitted/postmarked by 11 April 2007 to EFA. The area
TOY awards for 2008 will be submitted to Rich Taubinger, 12 Century Ct.
Roseville CA. 95678-1088. CAFA needs each area VP to get this TOY program
implemented in the chapters as they have for the CAFA scholarship programs.
EFA: EFA will convene a TOY selection committee and make a CAFA TOY
selection and two runner ups. It is hoped that each area will submit a TOY
nominee and we can select a TOY from each area. In the event an area does
not submit one TOY nominee, EFA may select an additional TOY from another
area to be also recognized. After selection, EFA will notify CAFA as well as
National AFA to receive the state TOY winner’s funds ($1,000) as well as
other AFA items. EFA will work closely with the CAFA awards chairman in
order to insure that the TOY awards are made and presented along with the
other CAFA yearly awards.
